My Story

McCoy Ven. LLC is an independent consultancy that helps SMB and mid-market operators tighten operations, modernize shared services and IT, and adopt practical AI — led by Monty McCoy. I use AI for research, analysis, and drafting, and I keep final approval on what goes out and what we decide.

I’m based in Woodland, CA. Engagements are project-based. When delivery needs more specialists, I bring in partners — not a hidden bench presented as staff.

What McCoy Ven. does

Shared services and IT operations

I help operators redesign shared services and IT so ownership is clear, handoffs shrink, and day-to-day work holds up under real load.

Operating rhythm

I help tighten how work actually runs: decision rights, reporting, and the meetings and tools that keep operators in control without adding process theater.

Practical AI adoption

I help put AI on the desk for calendar, inbox, research, and drafting — with approval gates so you stay in control. This is operator tooling and judgment, not a coding course and not “set it and forget it.”

Staffing (plan the seat first)

For roles that need to be filled, the client defines the seat and outcomes. I introduce USM Workforce Management for sourcing and delivery. I stay involved for reporting and renewal. Details: Staffing.

Physical AI (when it fits)

When software, sensors, and machines show up in a real operations use case, I help assess fit and who should stay accountable for decisions. Assessment and framing — not a packaged AgTech delivery lineup. Starting notes: Physical AI.

What makes this different

  1. Owner-led. Every engagement runs through me as principal — you are not handed off to an anonymous bench.
  2. AI for speed, Monty for the call. I use AI for research, analysis, and drafting; I retain final say on outbound and decisions.
  3. Operator desk first. The work is shared services, IT, and practical AI you can run day to day.
  4. Partners when needed — named as partners. USM Systems, AI Overlords, and TenisiTech deliver when the work needs them. They are not presented as McCoy Ven. staff.
  5. Clear path for seats vs. advisory. Consulting stays project-based; staffing follows plan-the-seat, then USM delivery, with me on reporting and renewal.

How this compares (category, not a hit list): Unlike large staffing mills that lead with résumés, we plan the seat before fill. Unlike pure AI shops that automate without an accountable principal, I keep final approval. Unlike big advisory firms that staff a swarm by default, this practice stays owner-led and brings partners only when the work needs them.

Who it’s for

  • SMB and mid-market operators who need tighter shared services, IT, and operating rhythm
  • Leaders exploring practical AI on the desk without giving up approval authority
  • Operators weighing sensor/machine AI in the field — assessment and framing first
  • Companies that want a clearly defined role filled via USM after the seat is planned
  • Operators who want one accountable principal, not a rotating cast

How advisory works

  1. Talk — Email, phone, or LinkedIn; start at Connect.
  2. Scope — We define the problem, outcomes, and whether this is advisory, staffing, or both.
  3. Work — I lead the engagement. AI supports research, analysis, and drafting; I approve decisions and anything outbound.
  4. Partner delivery (if needed) — When specialists are required, I introduce the right partner and stay the point of contact for fit and follow-through.
  5. Reporting — Project close-out on advisory; for staffing, I remain involved for reporting and renewal after USM delivery starts.

FAQ

Is McCoy Ven. a staffing agency?

No. McCoy Ven. is an independent consultancy. For staffing, the client defines the role; I introduce USM Workforce Management for sourcing and delivery, and I stay involved for reporting and renewal.

Who does the work — Monty or a team?

I lead every engagement as principal. When the work needs more specialists, I bring in named partners. Partners deliver their part; they are not McCoy Ven. staff. You work with me, plus those partners when the work needs them — not an unnamed team.

How is AI used in engagements?

I use AI for research, analysis, and drafting to move faster. I keep final approval on decisions and anything outbound. The goal is practical AI on the desk with clear accountability.

What is the USM relationship?

USM Systems is a delivery partner for staff augmentation, AI, and IoT. Intros go through me. After a staffing introduction and agreement, USM manages sourcing and delivery, including experienced engineers from its bench who can review and test AI-generated code. I remain involved for reporting and renewal.

What does a typical engagement look like?

We start with a clear problem and outcomes, then run project-based advisory with me as principal. If specialists or seat fills are needed, I introduce the right partner and keep the thread coherent through delivery and reporting.
